Let’s Be Frank

Frank? Don’t scare us like that again, okay buddy? I know it’s fun to fly, but we’re going to tape one of your wings so you keep that youthful exuberance in the yard from now on.
Frank is home safe after his night out on the town, and he doesn’t seem to mind having one of his wings taped. Unfortunately, we found out today that Frank’s blood results from his follow-up vet visit show he still has a pretty serious infection from when he was shot with a bb gun before he was rescued last month. It’s a pretty big bummer because his leg LOOKS so much better, so we thought he WAS better. Also, the antibiotic was really expensive and supposed to work wonders. He must have been really suffering with that bb in his leg before he was rescued. Hopefully the new antibiotic will help get his blood count back under control. Thankfully, his leg DOES work better, the swelling is gone, and he doesn’t even limp anymore. So that’s good news. He’ll need one more blood test in 7-10 days to ensure the new antibiotic kills the infection, but he still should be able to go to his forever home before that.
I’m so glad we found him and got him home this morning after his neighborhood flight, especially with his white blood cell count so elevated. He has agreed not to scare us again, and even if he gets wanderlust for flying free, his wing is taped.
Frank? You’re grounded. Indefinitely.

Yeah, but Frank has the kind of tenacity that you rarely find outside of Navy SEaLs, the British SAS, or a meshuggener duck lady who goes above and beyond the call of duty for a nutty duck.
But I digress.
Frank is obviously an intelligent and resourceful bird, and it would not surprise me to learn that y’all were enjoying your morning coffee only to find out that Frank figgered out that you’re supposed to touch the red wire and the black wire in the steering column to hotwire a car (at least that’s what I’ve been told by ducks who have boosted cars before)
Frank sure is a handsome boy with lots of character, I like that;-)
Sorry to hear he still has an infection, I hope the new antibiotics work.
Are you going to take him to the vet after he moved or are his new humans going to. So did you tape his wings folded up? (me thinking about Sieb)
Little Frankie is still young, let’s not give him hell for being naughty once in a good while. Didn’t Georgie fly all over the neighbourhood once?
Frank, you look like you’re plotting an escape…. You better behave or you’re really be grounded!!!
Sounds like it’s time to make a donation “For a Good Koz” to help out Frank…
frank hope the your going to get better
Just a small hurdle to overcome before you start charming the mallard hens at your forever home, eh, Frank? I’ll take the fact that you were spunky enough to dare an escape as a sign that you’re feeling healthy and strong. Be good to kooky foster mom during your last few days with her. She loves you, bro.
