Book Recommendation

“The Way of the Owl: The Remarkable Love Story of an Owl and his Girl” by Stacey O’Brien is what I’m reading right now. I just started it tonight, but already think I should recommend it to all Flapper fans. Stacey writes about her 19-year relationship with Wesley. Let me read you one bit from the first few pages:
“…owls mate for life, and when an owl’s mate dies, he doesn’t necessarily go out and find another partner. Instead, he might turn his head to face the tree on which he’s sitting and stare fixedly in a deep depression until he dies. Such profound grief is indicative of how passionately owls can feel and how devoted they are to their mates. This is the Way of the Owl.”
I love this book already.
Special thanks to Aunt Sharon & Uncle Sid for sending me the OC Register newspaper article about this book.

OK I’m sold…. just reserved it from the library system. Should get it within the week.
What a devoted and committed bird. I hate the fact that they commit suicide when their mate dies, but it’s also very Shakesperean, tragically romantic.
I think ducks have emotions too. When Mr. Quack Quack’s 1st wife died (she had egg-binding, we buried her in our backyard), he was depressed for at least 2 weeks. How did we know? He was swimming around aimlessly, as if he was looking for her, and appeared desolute and had little appetite. He got over it eventually, but that’s when we swore to him that we’d take care of him for the rest of his life.
Yeah… Flapper had a hard time when Kozmo and then Phoebe passed on. I gave him a mirror and he has liked that, but I know he missed them. He has decided Petunia isn’t as bad as he thought, and now they’re friends.
thanks for the suggestion
*Sniffles* I wish I were an owl.
There is no true love for humans, but for geese and owls maybe.
Have a ducky Halloween Flap, Choo Choo, Malley and ducky friends, and ofcourse the silly human!
xD
(save some french fries for me please)
