Hi Petunia. Are you going to venture out of your hidey-hole today?

safe
“Is it safe?”

I think so, Petunia. I will stay out here with you so you are safe, okay?
woo
“Okay. I’m coming out of the pen. Here I come!”

stretch
“Oooooh it feels good to stretch.”

brave
“I’m trying to be brave, but I don’t think I can be brave for very long.”

That’s okay, Petunia. Just a little bit of bravery every day will help you get back to normal, girl. I’m really proud of you for venturing out today. Good job, Petunia.
thanks
“Thanks. I’m going back in now, but I’ll be back out again.”

Petunia made a brief appearance in the yard today. We’re going to give her a bath later today and check her out really closely all over to make sure we didn’t miss any injuries last week. If she doesn’t continue to improve, she’ll head back to the vet next week. So far she seems okay, just not back to normal yet.

She’s starting to remind me of Punxsutawney Phil, the ground hog in Pennsylvania who predicts weather on Groundhog Day. Petunia stepped outside and wandered around for a bit, and even ate some treats. But then she went right back to her hidey-hole.

I think that means we have at least 6 more weeks of winter.
