Punxsutawney Petunia

Hi Petunia. Are you going to venture out of your hidey-hole today?

“Is it safe?”
I think so, Petunia. I will stay out here with you so you are safe, okay?

“Okay. I’m coming out of the pen. Here I come!”

“Oooooh it feels good to stretch.”

“I’m trying to be brave, but I don’t think I can be brave for very long.”
That’s okay, Petunia. Just a little bit of bravery every day will help you get back to normal, girl. I’m really proud of you for venturing out today. Good job, Petunia.

“Thanks. I’m going back in now, but I’ll be back out again.”
Petunia made a brief appearance in the yard today. We’re going to give her a bath later today and check her out really closely all over to make sure we didn’t miss any injuries last week. If she doesn’t continue to improve, she’ll head back to the vet next week. So far she seems okay, just not back to normal yet.
She’s starting to remind me of Punxsutawney Phil, the ground hog in Pennsylvania who predicts weather on Groundhog Day. Petunia stepped outside and wandered around for a bit, and even ate some treats. But then she went right back to her hidey-hole.
I think that means we have at least 6 more weeks of winter.

If she’s eating, drinking and beginning to come out, that’s a good sign, right? I sure hope so.
Wow! What a breakthrough! I am so glad Petunia is taking strides in her healing process. Every little step helps, girl. We are cheering you on.
Like all hens, she is just being cautious.
Looking good, Toonsicles. Take it slowly, and before you know it, you’ll be Queen of the Yard, ruling over the boys. No, make that Queen of the Aviary, once it’s built.
Be good for mom in the bath.
This is great news:-) I’m so happy to see her out in the open, if only for a short while. Good for you Petunia. Tiff thinks you are a groundhog, I was thinking you turned into a hedgehog, hibernating the winter away. But no, I see clearly that you are a pretty duck lady, and ducks need air and excercise! This is the progress I was hoping to see all week.
I hope you didn’t find any new injuries. One step at a time Petunia, you are very brave:-)
Way to go, Petunia!!! So glad you are feeling well enough for a brief yard excursion!
Yay, Toonie! Slow but steady wins the race, right, sweetie pie?
I’m so glad to see her out and about!
What a sweet girl. I don’t live far from *Phil* and I’ve never gone to see him.
I am so glad she’s slowly coming around. What a horror she must have lived through. To think, she survived it…. is amazing.
Their little brains must be something else. Look at the emotion and love they all show you, Tiff. To think, some people think they are “just ducks”….if they only knew your family, they’d see what they’re really made of.
Praying Petunia soon starts to get back to normal.
at least she is getting out thats good for her
Hey Tiff- Looks like she was dead-on right, eh?
