O’Malley to the Vet
Hey Malley.

“What’s up, Mom?”
I want to take you to the vet today.

“No way, lady. No chance.”
You’ve got this bump on your neck and I want them to take a look at it.

It’s not a sore and the skin looks fine, but I don’t remember it being there last month.

“I think it’s fine. Let’s leave it alone.”

No, O’Malley. We need to have the vet check it out.

“I’m thinking about it.”
“Okay I will go, but I want to take a bath first.”

That sounds reasonable, O’Malley. Go ahead and swim while I get the carrier ready.
“Thanks, Mom.”

“Whee!”

“Okay I’m almost ready.”

“Let’s go.”

“I’ll drive.”
Oh I think I’ll drive, O’Malley. But thanks for the offer.
I was really worried when I noticed a lump on O’Malley’s neck yesterday. It doesn’t have an open sore anywhere and it also doesn’t look infected, but it wasn’t there a few weeks ago. The vet felt it and couldn’t see anything to biopsy. She said it felt like fatty skin, nothing more. O’Malley had blood work done and we’ll have those results on Monday afternoon. The vet thinks it’s just an area of thickened skin or fat. O’Malley is acting normally and eating and drinking just fine. We’ll post more as soon as we have his blood results.
We hope it’s just a new patch of fat. Not only would it be great for O’Malley to be just fine, but it would also be amusing for him to have neck fat. We would enjoy making fun of his neck fat since he scared us with this vet visit. So keep your fingers crossed for O’Fatty. I mean O’Malley.
By the way, he weighs 6.14kg which is 13.5lbs! That’s a BIG ducky (all muscle, right buddy?)

“I heard that!”

13.5 pounds?? WOW! I haven’t had anyone over 9 pounds and she’s a lot to handle. Lifting O’Malley is going to build some serious muscle, Tiff.
I hope it’s just neck fat, nothing to worry about, and more O’Malley to love. He’ll likely start a new fad and people will be getting those injections in the neck like they did in the lips after Julia Roberts became so popular…
O’Malley you really are a handsome duck. Kisses to u O’Malley.
Those pictures are so perfect and you wrote it so funny. I love it. I hope the results are good on Monday.
time to get o mally on the treadmill lol
Is there still water in the pool?;-) That’s some serious splashing Malley!
I’m happy to hear the bump is harmless, I had hoped it would be. He will have a little trouble fitting his bow tie around his neck, but there are bigger problems in a drake’s life;-) Good news!
It has to be nothing. It just has to be! You’ve had more than your share of animal heartbreak this year!
Love the splashing pictures. They’re priceless.
I had the same type of scare with my very own fatty, my 175-pound great dane. His was a baseball sized tumor, thankfully just a lipoma (fatty tumor). Finding a lump is a very scary thing, and I hope O’Malley’s is nothing to worry about!
Lookin’ good as always, Malley!
Wow – O’Malley is an expert bather – complete immersion and serious splashing! No wonder the Seattle humidity is high!
What a bird! O’Malley has quite the wingspan! We wish him well!
…..I forgot to mention what a responsible “parent” you are Tiff. There is an art to being so very observant as to the changes and needs of animals! Birds can be especially hard to read. It is really commendable that you seek help (got to the VET!) when your animals need attention! HUGE round of applause for mom! I wish there was a model pet owner award..I really do…
Maybe he just wanted to show solidarity with Toonie and grow a nubbin … only he did it in the wrong place.
13.5 pounds? Are you sure he’s a duck? He looks like some sort of turkey-cassowary hybrid.
Sorry, Malley. You know I love you. I’m sure you’re going to be just fine.
That O’Malley really knows how to take a bath. I could only see water splashing in some of the photos. I’m sure he got real clean though for the vet visit. 13.5 pounds – i have a cat that weighs that.
I see the snow is coming down like nuts right now (Sun, 6:PM) here in Tukwila. Streets, grass, bushes, trees are covered already and it’s coming down fast.
Best wishes and peas to Mr. O’Malley!
LOL That’s a large duck indeed. I have a bunny that weights a teensy bit above average too: 6,4 kg.
I’ve been meaning to ask you yesterday if the bloodwork results of Malley had come in, but I forgot. Do you know more?
Hope all is well with your duckosaurus.
Just posted a new update. Blood work looks pretty good.
