Koala Doing Well

You may have seen this story on the news. A koala girl helped by a fireman in Australia. Well she’s now at a rehabilitation facility and is doing okay. She has about 7-months of rehabilitation ahead of her for burns. Here’s the AP photo showing the fireman sharing a bottle of water with her before she was rescued.

She’s super cute so I just had to share. Koalas are not normally friendly, even though they look so huggable. So she must have been in really poor shape when she was found. It’s nice to see a good rescue in the middle of the worst disaster in Australia’s history.

Flapper the Snuggler

Flapper hangs out with me in the yard and thinks about taking a nap. This video might be boring for most people, but it’s a pretty good example of our conversations. I talk, he goes “bwaaaah” back. It’s his “I like you, too” sound.

Flapper’s a good conversationalist.

no singing, lady

Simon normally likes a song or two in the evenings, but not tonight.

Tonight he wanted me to shut it.

“I’m pretty good, too. Did you bring me anything from your trip?”

You are both pretty and pretty good, Petunia. I didn’t bring you anything from Philadelphia, but I did bring you some corn treats from inside the house.

Malley? When you’re done with your bath, come sit with me. I want to hear all about your weekend.

From Thursday-Sunday afternoon I was in Philadelphia judging an advertising award show. The ducks and cats had a pet sitter. I’m happy they have such good care when I’m gone, but I am happier to be home as I miss them far too much when I’m away.
