I am alive and everything is good
Funny… I’ve received two emails today asking if everything is okay. I didn’t realize a few days without a post would spook people. So…
1. I am fine.
2. Everything is okay.
3. Duckies are good.
I have been extra busy with work, and worked most of the weekend. Plus it rained literally ALL weekend. Torrential downpours most of the day both days. Not exactly the best weather for photos.
The ducks are doing well, and they enjoyed the break in the rain this evening. They are pretty funny all together, and all seem to be learning to keep their own space. Lily and Petunia alerted us to a neighbor cat tonight, which was pretty funny. Lily makes a cute “alert” sound that drowns out Petunia’s quiet alert. Sam has decided he loves Flapper’s big pond, but Flapper has decided Sam is not allowed in the big pond. So Flapper hogs it and Sam does laps around it, hoping to get his chance to swim. When we hold Flapper, Sam finally gets his chance. Chewy avoids Sam because Sam picks on him. So he’s his usual independent self. Everyone avoids O’Malley because he’s a bitey dinosaur duck.
More updates soon, I promise.

Ha ha ha, I was wondering too where you were;-) Good to hear all is well.
I assume that Sam and Lily are on ‘the loose’ now? That’s good news, I hope they continue to improve and get a little bigger (but not too big:-D
I was thinking about Flapper and his latest problems, I hope he hangs in there. No news on surgery or follow up medications?
It’s been a quiet Easter in Holland too. The geese are slowly getting more peaceful now that the girls are laying, still the ganders have their moments. Even Grietje (our white goose) started laying on Easter Monday (she is awefully late, normally she is way ahead of the Canada’s). The Gelder girls are all fine and healthy, laying beautiful eggs and Suki is starting to get broody for the second time. Solo and Suus are like every Spring habnging out in our neighbor’s yard (holiday home) but were home at Foppe’s for the holidays since the neighbor was home. Seems like after the noisy start of Spring everything is setteling down a bit again:-)
Hi Peter.
Flapper is doing okay for now. He is on anti-inflammatories and pain meds when he needs them. I’ve been giving them to him in smaller and smaller doses since his last vet visit, and he seems to be doing really well. His vet is headed to Alaska for a few weeks, so Flapper is good for now. I am not too excited about the possibility of surgery, and not sure about his chances. So for now we’re just going to avoid it all together and see how he does. No surgery in the near future.
I was worried, too! I’ve got a hair trigger right now between wedding planning and grad school (so I’m worried about everything!), but I’m still glad to hear that everyone is alright. I am going to cross my fingers and hope that Flapper does NOT need surgery, and that his long term prospects continue to trend upward.
Don’t underestimate yourself — you have quite a fan base. I was going through duckie withdrawal, but I know you’re busy.
Wish I could hear the Toonie and Lily alerts. Maybe one day when you’ve got the sound on, I’ll be able to catch it on FlapperCam.
Poor Choo! Give him extra hugs for me.
ha ha… I thought you were either out of town or sick…. Glad all is well… now post some cute pictures! ;-P
OMG, I’m looking at FlapperCam now, and Malley looks HUGE. Is he expanding?
Maybe it’s just the angle.
I was definitely going through duck withdrawal and i look twice a day to see if there is something new when nothing is posted. I figured you were on a trip. The rain the last few days has been obnoxious but when the son comes through like today – wow, what a blessing. Everyone’s attitude is so up and people are smiling more.
