“I should have called you before wearing this today. How embarrassing that we are dressed alike.” – O’Malley Peepers

Today for breakfast we made facon (fake bacon) and biscuits. We wanted to try this special honey, sent to us by Flapper Fan Toni.

As you can see, the honey is “top secret.”

Toni runs a blog called City Bees. If you click the link, you’ll see when it comes to bees, she’s pretty well connected.
She used to keep her urban beekeeping pretty quiet. But now that the White House has raised the profile of area beekeepers, she was even featured in an article in the Washington Post.
“The Perfect Pursuit In This Urban Hive”
Thanks to Toni for the super-tasty honey. It made for a great breakfast this morning!

This is Russell and Cameron Crow. They hang out in my yard every day with me and the ducks.

As you can see, Russell really loves his lady Cameron. He preens her head and neck feathers often. I’m glad I finally snapped a few photos of them preening, because it’s pretty adorable. He stands next to her and looks at her from all angles, then he preens a section of feathers and stands back to take another look.

Russell does a really good job and Cameron just loves to have her feathers preened. These two crows usually have babies but this year they didn’t hatch any. I think a bad wind storm took out their nest a month ago.
I’m happy they like hanging out with me and the ducks, because I sure like hanging out with them.
In case you’re someone who is irritated by crows, I ask you to watch this video about how smart they are:

I bought myself a little treat this week.

Let’s see what’s inside!

It’s a handmade goose necklace. I love it.

Will you try it on for me, Meelee?
“Sure. Anything as long as you stop giving me pills.”

No promises on the pills, Meelee. But you look great! I’m going to try it on Flapper though, since he is my regular jewelry model.

“How do I look?”

Oh, Flapper. You’re so handsome! Super cute, buster.

“I thought so. Thanks, Mom.”

Thanks to Mira Tweti for helping this issue get the attention it deserves. My favorite quote: “What you’ve got is a 3-year-old running around the house with a can opener on its face. And a megaphone.”
I went out of town to attend the funeral of my Grandfather in Pocatello, ID this weekend.

Grandpa Gar was a really good grandpa.

He took me fishing and camping many times. And best of all, he always laughed at my dumb jokes.

I got to visit with a ton of family I rarely see, and had a nice time catching up on all of their lives. Here you can see the men visit all together in the living room and the women folk visit in the dining room.

Here the grand daughters all practice a song to sing at Grandpa’s funeral. However, since I don’t sing, the best tribute from me was to keep my mouth closed. They did a really nice job though.

I love hanging at Grandma Afton’s house because she has great retro style (though she may not know it’s retro).

Pocatello is a quaint college town and former railroad town, and it has a nice restored downtown area.
I was only gone from Saturday morning to Sunday late night, but I miss my Flapper and my other furry & feathered family whenever I’m away.

I think Flapper missed me, too.

“What are Victor and Emilio doing?”

They are excited that we found a good forever home for them.

And they’re flapping around the yard and running through the sprinklers to celebrate.

“Where is Victor flying now?”

“You two kids stop that right now!”

“Hey Flapper?”

“What is it?”

“Victor says talk to the butt, ’cause the beak don’t want to hear it. Ha ha ha!”
Ha ha, good one Victor and Emilio.

“I walked right into that one.”

“This is my Victor impersonation.”
Hee hee, that is pretty good, Flapper. He is a little chubby.
Okay, enough joking you guys.

Emilio? You be a good boy in your new home, okay? I know you will love it there.

And Victor? You keep an eye out for Emilio. He’s a little guy. And maybe lay off the treats a little, eh?

“I think I’m going to miss these guys.”
You are, O’Malley?

“Well… I will miss yelling at them. NO VICTOR DO NOT TOUCH MY POOL!”
That sounds more like it.

“Good luck, Emilio & Victor.”

“Yes, good luck.”

“We might miss you a little bit. But treats will help us feel better.”
Emilio & Victor went to their forever home this morning. Their new home is only about 40 minutes away, and they used the drive time to take a nap. Actually Victor got a little car sick and threw up a few pieces of lettuce. But then he ate them again so it was all good. (Gross, Victor).

They settled right into their new pool and ate some treats when they arrived.

Victor, do you like your new pool?
“Do I have to share these treats with Flapper?”
Nope. Not anymore.

“Then I LOVE it.”

“I like it, too. Hey what are those other ducks doing?”

They’re a little wary of the new kids in the pool, but I bet they’ll come over soon and say hello.

“LISTEN UP! I am in charge here. You are to leave the pool immediately. Cease and desist!”

“Whoa! That did not sound like hello.”
Well, I am sure he will be nice once he gets to know you two. But until then, you’d better listen to him. Consider him the new O’Malley, okay guys?
“Definitely.”
Victor and Emilio’s forever home is just perfect. They have three other rescued duck friends, some wild ducks that visit each day and some other animals, too.

These two rescued 30-year-old+ macaws have a huge, beautiful outdoor aviary near the ducks.

There are even some rescued Plymouths.

We wish Victor and Emilio all the very best in their new forever home. We’re grateful to their new human and really happy they lucked into such a great place to live. We’ll get a check-in note from them soon, so we can make sure they’re settling in okay. But as long as they listen to the new boss duck, we know they’ll be just fine.
Be safe and good and happy, you guys! Lots of love! XOXOX

The End.

Mr. Dodo, Juno and Fling are doing great. Their humans thought it was curious that they weren’t laying eggs yet, as this is spring time afterall.

Then they found this. Fling and Juno had been hiding all their eggs in a secret spot! Because they don’t want ducklings (there are too many rescues who need good homes already), they took the eggs so they wouldn’t develop.
We’re happy to hear Fling, Juno and Mr. Dodo are still getting along great.
Thanks for the update!

Hey Flap… uhhh I mean Victor.

“I think the easiest way to tell Victor and Flapper apart is from their sidekicks.”
That’s a smart idea, O’Malley.

But can you tell them apart when there are no sidekicks around, O’Malley?
Flapper on the back left, Victor front right.

Flapper in the front. Victor in the back.

Flapper and both sidekicks.

“Ha ha this is funny.”

Victor and his sidekick Emilio.

Flapper and his sidekick Chewy.

“Pttth. I don’t look anything like that old guy.”

“Did he just call me… old?”

I think he meant experienced, Flapper.

“That makes more sense.”

“Oh that was a good save.”
Thank you, Malley.

We’ll be back to these three boys soon, as Victor and Emilio will go to a new forever home this Saturday. We’ll post photos when we take them to their new home, and as always, if it doesn’t work out, they’re always welcome back at Flapper’s house.
Victor and Emilio will be going to a forever home with 3 other rescued ducks, just south of Seattle. Their new human has had ducks for nearly 20-years, and his two girl ducks passed away from old age at 15-years-old. That’s a good, long life for a ducky! We think this is a good fit for Emilio & Victor, and we’re thankful that their new family has room for them.
Until then, we’re still seeing double.
