Emilio and Victor
This is Emilio.

And this is Victor.

They are the two adorable boys who came to stay with us tonight until we can find them a safe forever home. They are about 8-weeks-old I think.

Their human took good care of them, but she couldn’t keep them. She got Emilio and Victor at the same time that her boyfriend’s sister got two ducks. They all stayed together in her boyfriend’s family’s yard. Then some sort of break-up occurred, as it often does with young people. The break-up left Emilio and Victor with no place to live. They have been staying in an apartment bath tub for the past few days.
This is a good time to revisit our top reasons NOT to get a pet duck. Here is a link to it:

We never, ever recommend ducks for young people who don’t have their own homes. As much as they mean well and can be good caregivers, they just aren’t old enough to have stable, consistent homes for animals… especially ducks.
Luckily for Emilio and Victor, their human took good care of them. They are in good shape and have great feather quality and seem very healthy. They were getting the right kind of food, and were kept safe from predators at night. We will take a poop sample to the Vet’s office on Monday just to make sure they don’t have parasites that they might spread to my ducks. But I’m pretty sure they’re just fine.

You two? You’re welcome to stay here as long as you like. We hope to find you a safe forever home where you can live a long, happy life.

“I don’t know you, lady. But you seem okay to me.”

Thanks, Victor. You and Emilio settle in for the night, and tomorrow we will talk some more and have some treats.
Sweet dreams, little boys.

It’s the MR. Dodo story again…almost….thanks Tiff for putting your heart into this..like all that you do for our friends…
Is Victor a campbell? He reminds me of my Amos and Andy when they were young, though I don’t see the looooong neck campbells usually have.
Oh that Emilio is a handsome devil. As for Flapper Jr-er, uh- I mean Victor, He’s quite the looker too!
Victor is a pekin duck and Emilio is a rouen duck.
What handsome fellows! They are still young so the transition won’t be that hard on them, but I’m glad they ended up with you (for the time being). Sad for their humans that they broke up but these kids were happy she turned to you and they didn’t end up at the local pond.
They look very healthy and relaxed.
I’m sorry for Petunia though, would have been nice if she had a girlfriend for a while:-)
Happy holidays Victor and Emilio, you’re going to have a ball!
Emilio is GORGEOUS. Victor’s a cutie, too. Is Flapper jealous?
It must be so hard to find good forever homes for your rescues. Do you ever have to take them back if it doesn’t work out?
Hi Joan:
I answered this same question from you when you asked it about Sam & Lily. Here was my answer:
“Yes, Joan. I always offer to take them back if it doesn’t work out, and I even have a backup home should that happen. I’ve never had to do that, but once I did bring one duck back with me for a week while I built her a predator-proof pen (she was very imprinted). This home sounds great so I have my fingers crossed that everything will go well.”
i’m sure their former humans were sad to see them go, but happy to see them so well cared for! thanks for all you do, “lady!”
What handsome boys! Hopefully they are able to find a forever home soon
so has flapper confronted his doppleganger yet?
Kelly: Yes, Flapper rolled right over Victor.
I feel sad for their former human. It must have been painful for her to give them up. But I’m glad that these two cuties found their way to the Crazy Duck Lady. They will be well taken care of until they find forever people. (I hope they won’t be bitten by a pterodactyl!)
Will you split them up if necessary? Or will they definitely go as a duo?
I could provide a backup home for them but it would nice to see them go to a home where they could be pampered like you-know-who. Dobby is such an attention hog here.
