Today we headed off to take Turk and Rex to a sanctuary where they can stay as long as they need to, but hopefully will find a great forever home someday.

With Rex riding shotgun and Turk in the back, we drove Northeast of Seattle for about an hour.
That’s where we found Pasado’s Safe Haven.

Not only do they take in neglected and abused animals, Pasado’s Safe Haven is also known for numerous prosecutions against animal abusers, and they have won major convictions. They have even helped change laws in Washington state to protect animals against cruelty.

We arrived at the private gates as I gave Rex & Turk one last pep talk.

OH MAN! TURK! I see a lady muscovy duck!

They’re also building a pond, but all the rain we’ve had filled the hole before they could put the pond liner in. I don’t think these ducks mind though.

There are cats and dogs and goats and a donkey and a miniature horse and a llama and…

…geese and chickens and roosters and ducks and more!

Unfortunately for Rex and Turk, they have to spend a few days in isolation until a veterinarian can clear them to be near the other animals at Pasado’s. But they’re in a very comfy spot.
I said goodbye and wished them well, and then as I was driving out I saw this truck.

The motto says “Hurt an animal go to jail!”
Great motto. I like it.

Boy it sure was quiet in the aviary when we got home tonight.

Without Turk & Rex to huff and puff, even Chewy looked a little bored.

It will be good to return to a little peace and quiet and not have to play “musical ducks” to keep everyone safe and sound here at home, but the change of pace takes some getting used to. Rex & Turk were with us since July, and they were big, crazy, fun personalities.

Turk? May you have the best of luck impressing that new grey muscovy girl at the sanctuary.

And Rex? Best of luck chasing the pants and shoes of all the people at Pasado’s Safe Haven.

The nice people at Pasado’s Safe Haven promised to update us now and then on how Turk & Rex are doing. We’d like to thank them again for everything they do to help animals, reduce cruelty & suffering and prosecute animal abusers.
