Hey you guys.
kids
I just got great news!

Rex & Turk have been accepted into a great sanctuary until a suitable forever home can be found for them.

not
“But I’m not done harassing Rex yet!”
Well you’d better hurry up then, Petunia. They will be heading to the sanctuary on Tuesday morning.

have
“I have to move again?”
Yes, Turk. I am sorry that I don’t have enough room to keep you and Rex forever. It’s just not fair, buddy. When I first rescued you and Rex from that park in Mill Valley, I hoped the forever home I took you to would be a good fit. But since you two had such a rough start in life, it just didn’t work out. You had too many problems to overcome first.

nobody
“Sigh… thank you for everything you’ve done for us. I know we can’t stay. I hope somebody will want us someday, even though we aren’t always well behaved.”

Awww, Turk. That’s really nice of you to say thanks. You are both very welcome. I think you and Rex are both awesome. And you know I want the best for you. This sanctuary that you’re going to? They specialize in guys just like you Turk. They take in abused and neglected animals all the time. And even more than that, they work hard to prosecute animal abusers and stop animal cruelty.

There are all kinds of animals there who know what it’s like to be thrown away and left to starve. They know how scary it is to be chased by dogs. They know that abuse like that can leave you with some tough memories, Turk. I think you’ll make some good friends there. And you can stay there as long as you need to.

petun
“Petunia! Will you come with me?”
I’m afraid she can’t go, Turk. But you know what? They might have some lady ducks at the sanctuary.

seriously
“Tell me more about these ladies.”
I’m not 100% positive, but I think it’s likely. I wish you had started molting earlier so your feathers would look better by now.

start
“This is starting to sound okay to me. I think I am ready to go now.”
You are a real trooper, Turk. After everything you’ve been through… being dumped at a park. Being chased by dogs. Going without food. Getting in trouble at your first rescue home. And now waiting here until we could find somewhere to take you. I think you’re just amazing, buddy. You’re a true survivor. Rex is too.

rex
“Hey do I have time to get cleaned up first?”
Sure, Rex. We’re not going until Tuesday.

good
“Okay, good.”

impr
“I thibnk itth imblthbnt to lobth mby bebth.”
What did you say, Rex? I can’t hear you when you’re underwater.

i said
“I said…”

important
“I think it’s important to look my best. Just in case there are girls there.”

good
Good idea, Rex.

new
Your new feathers are growing in great. Both you and Turk will be super handsome when you’re all done molting those damaged feathers from your time spent abandoned at the park.

how
“How do I look?”

Oh Rex… you’re a ladykiller buddy. I hope those girls at the sanctuary are ready for a handsome guy like you.

start
“I’ll go easy on them to start.”
Ha ha, good plan Rex.

Turk and Rex were accepted into a wonderful sanctuary near Seattle. Once they are all settled in, I will post more information about it, along with a link for anyone who wants to support them. I could not be happier for them, as there’s no better place I could even imagine. We’re so lucky, and I’m so grateful. I can’t wait to tell you more, but it’ll have to wait until they’re all settled in.

It’s always tough to say goodbye to rescues, whether they go to a good forever home, or unfortunately pass away. There’s something about these two guys that just gets to me, and I’m having a tough time saying goodbye. For some reason, it’s the high-maintenance handfuls that worm their way into your heart. And these two are a handful and a half. We wish them all the best, and we’re so happy they have a great sanctuary to care for them.

Love and hugs and Cheerios to you both, Turk & Rex. BE GOOD (try to be good).
