Chewy Check-Up

“Check out my scary shadow.”
Eeps! Very scary, Choo Choo.
“I am hoping it wards off stabby veterinarians.”
Chewy went to the vet for a quick blood-draw today to make sure his infection is entirely gone. Actually the blood draw wasn’t all that quick because Chewy jerked his leg right as Dr. Dan was trying to get the needle in, and Dr. Dan stabbed himself instead. So then he tried again but his thumb was bleeding. So Dr. Bennett came in to get blood from Chewy’s OTHER leg. That went a little better since two people were holding Chewy still, and we should have the blood results on Tuesday afternoon.
Chewy was not impressed, and could not wait to get all the human cooties off of his feathers when we got home. I tried to get him to apologize for stabbing Dr. Dan but he said “no way, he started it!”
Today Chewy weighed 1.94kg or 4.27lbs. This is a GREAT weight because on December 16th when he wasn’t feeling well he was down to 1.68kg or 3.7lbs. He has gained back the weight he lost when he was feeling sick. Yay!

Very mysterious shadow, Chewy! Hope the blood results are good.
I know Chewy — it’s your obligation as a drake to put up at least a little resistance. And, good job for putting your foot down — it’s not your fault since he stabbed you first!
Glad you gained back the weight. A drake can’t be too thin or else he’ll look too gaunt for the ladies.
Happy New Year!
I love Chewy! You rock, handsome guy.
i wish i could’ve been at the vet’s to see that. i’m chuckling over the mishap.
glad to hear chewy’s doing better.
I can find nowhere a translation for “cooties”, but I think that it means that Chewy hates it that other humans have touched him. In fact I’ve experienced this with Pipke. The first thing she always wanted to do after her visit to the vet was washing herself very abundant.
Once, Pipke her maximum weight was 2.400 kg, then is Chewy not such a heavy duck.
I cross my fingers for the blood results!
Happy New Year!:)
Ha ha ha ha ha ha Fran that is funny that there is no translation for cooties, but not surprising. It isn’t a real word, but it is a pretty common term here. This is a definition I found on wikipedia: Cooties is a non-scientific term in North American English used by children for an imaginary “disease” said to infect through contact. The term may have originated with references to lice, fleas and other pests. A child is said to “catch” cooties through any form of bodily contact, proximity, or touching of an “infected” person. The phrase is most commonly used by children aged 5–10; however it is also used by many others older than 10 years of age.
LOL! Next time I am going to search in Wikipedia if I find no translation.
Thank you!:)
Awesome report on the chewy guy.
