Let Us Never Speak of This Day Again

Flapper is home from the vet, and seems to be resting comfortably enough. He had some waffle treats and took his medicine like a sweetheart. We should have blood work results on Tuesday and know more then. Hopefully he will feel okay in the morning. He had a nice swim in his pool before I put him to bed tonight. But the night didn’t end there.
Let’s recap the day.
I brought Flapper in the house at 6am because he was lethargic and sleeping too much. He didn’t eat great for two days. He went to the vet at 9am when they opened and spent the entire day there.
At 2pm I had a furnace repair man at my house because the furnace has been broken since last Tuesday. It is about 48 degrees inside my house.
I started making waffles for the ducks while the repairman was there, and let the ducks and chickens out of their aviary so they could hunt for bugs while I watched them through the kitchen window.

The repairman couldn’t find the right part to fix the furnace, and while we were talking, O’Malley bit Olivia on the butt. The repairman left and will come back on Wednesday when the part arrives to fix the furnace. I have to order the part online. The house is still cold.
I picked up Flapper right as the vet closed at 4pm, returning home to find I had left the waffle iron on and left waffle batter in it. The house thankfully did not burn down. In fact it smells nice like waffles.

I got Flapper settled into his pen and put everyone else away to take a thorough look at Olivia and make sure O’Malley didn’t hurt her. Well… O’Malley managed to rip a 2″ diameter hole in her butt, so we put her in the car and headed to the night time emergency vet for sutures. Her butt looked very sore. The vet gave her some pain medication. Olivia is now home from the emergency vet with sutures in her butt.
Olivia is not happy. I am tired. Flapper is sore. And O’Malley is grounded.
Let’s never speak of this day again.

How long is O’Malley grounded? Hope everyone recovers quickly!
A very good idea. It is done. We are thinking only of tomorrow. And we can turn the clocks ahead and have it arrive sooner. Yay.
Does O’Malley still get waffle treats? I make chocolatey waffles, but I hafta make them after the conures go to bed because: a) the greedy boogers love waffles, and b) they can’t have chocolate.
Awww I hope everyone and everything will be great tomorrow. Feel better Flapper and Olivia.
oh ugh. here’s to tomorrow being a better day!
Even I felt the pressure on the other side of the ocean. Rest assured, you did what you could, we all drop stitches from time to time. Most important is that Flapper is home again feeling better. I’m sorry Malley had to bite Olivia, poor girl, I hope she will be well soon. Sounds like the hormones are kicking in again after the winter break, my drakes are wild too (even Snuggles, which is good because he is more active and walks steady on his hurt leg), already I’ve had one lame girl from over mating and the season has only just begun.
It sucks when the house is cold, we too had our furnace break down this winter when it froze outside, cold can creep up on you brrrrrr. I hope you have an electric heater to keep yourself and Simon warm.
Forget this day, but not completely because you learned from it, panic is a bad guide, but so understandable.
You know like I do that there’s always something, one event ends and another presents itself, it’s because you love your critters so much that you have to go through these episodes, there’s no way around it.
I hope you get some rest now, if you ever need to vent, I can listen.
Best wishes and thanks for keeping us updated.
What a day! I’m glad everyone is patched up and I hope your days get better and better.
You’re day made ME tired. The days can only get better from the sounds of things.
Oy gevalt! So I guess it was a “Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play” kind of day.
Gee, I hope everything will be okay in a few days.
I wasn’t in the neighborhood for a while.
I’m so sorry to read that Flapper isn’t doing well.
I recognize what you are telling. Pipke also shook very often with her tail when she was ill.
She also did nothing else than drinking.
I will keep my fingers crossed for you both, and give you both a big hugh.
Get well very soon Flapper! xoxo
Get well soon, Flappypants and Olivia!
Is everything okay? It’s been two days since you posted. Hopefully you’re just busy and nothing is wrong…
I rushed through this story yesterday but went back and reread the whole thing today. Good grief – so glad you’re home is in one piece. And the summer is almost upon us Tif so there could be more rescues coming on board. You had a handful for sure. I’m glad that Olivia’s butt will recover and feathers will grow back. Cats get into their ‘tif’s’ too with fur flying. They start out friendly but sometimes end up with fur in mouths and angry language happening. LOL
oh, we love our pets!!!!
