Worldwide Protest to Save Lolita
Today we took a break from the ducks to go help out an orca whale. Today was the Worldwide Protest to Save Lolita the orca. The protest took place in over 40+ locations around the globe, in hopes to pressure Miami’s Seaquarium to implement a plan to release Lolita back to the wild. Here are a few photos about today’s protest in downtown Seattle. We’re holding the simple “FREE LOLITA” poster.

Lolita’s mother is still alive and swimming near her original capture site right now. Imagine if Lolita could be returned to her family, after all these years of being forced to do tricks to earn food. Lolita cannot speak up for herself, so it’s up to us to speak up for her. Thank you to all of the people worldwide who spoke out for Lolita today. She deserves all the best we can do for her.

Thanks for standing up for Lolita!! So glad to see that you had a big protest!
Hmpf, I’m not on Facebook so I can’t watch the video unfortunately:-(
(maybe it will show up on Youtube?)
Thanks for standing up for Lolita, I wouldn’t be surprised if her mom still recognizes her. Orcas are such intelligent and sensitive animals (though they have a bad reputation too). I’m hoping for the best!
Oops! Try again, Peter. I’m glad you noticed that! I think I fixed it.
Yep, it works now:-) What a brave little boy, so young and already so aware of how humans should treat animals the right way. I hope his voice will be heard.
I hope that Lolita can be freed and rejoined with her pod. Since we live in the Puget Sound, we see Orca’s on a regular basis in the wild and it’s so difficult to see them in a “zoo” per se. They are definitely meant to be in the wild and an open ocean. I have no doubt her pod would remember her and she would remember them.
You are a rockstar, my friend.
