rest in peace

Late this afternoon, Racquel L’Oreal Chicken lost her battle with congestive heart failure.
She was in the aviary and sleeping much of the day. I saw Flapper go over and lay down next to her, and Olivia went over to her other side. Then O’Malley and Petunia looked through the aviary divider at her, and somehow I knew she had passed. I waited a little longer and then went out to the aviary to see if I was right.
Racquel passed surrounded by her feathered friends, who seemed to say goodbye to her and wish her well. She will be cremated.

I’m sorry to see you go, sweet lil muppet with a slight attitude problem. I thank you for all the fun and wonderful times you brought to the yard, and I will miss you dearly.
Don’t worry about your friend Olivia. Chewy has taken a liking to her, even though she is a chicken and he is a duck. I think she will do okay, though I know she will miss you.
XOXOX and love,
Your people

Isn’t it amazing how silly creatures like little fuzzy chickens can touch your heart and break it?
Rest little muppet… your other feathered friends and silly human will miss you terribly.
I’m sad. But I’m glad she could be at rest and with her buddies around her at the end. It’s always good for animal friends to be there…then they know and don’t call needlessly for their pal. Rest in peace indeed.
Tears…lump in throat…hugs to your people.
You were a good muppet. Make sure you keep my fiesty Douglas in line. He needs someone up there with your spunk to keep him company.
We miss you, we love you.
Love your peeps in Cali,
Leah, Johnbob, Ozzy, and Elvis.
Rest well, Racquel. You are free from suffering now!
You will truly be missed by everyone who knows you.
This is the first time I have cried when a chicken has passed, you were a very special lady and had the life that you deserved.
I’m so glad she could come home for a couple last days and pass with her friends around her.
Oh Racquel, you will be missed.
It is so very touching the way her friends stayed beside her. You did everything you could to save her.
R.I.P beautiful, so sorry to see you go
xox
Rest in peace, lovely girl. I’m glad to hear she was surrounded by her friends at the end.
She lived very very long for a chicken and she’s so darn lucky to have joined your flock.
I’m gladd to hear Oliva will be ok.
She is such a beautiful lil muppet. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a chicken like her. We should all be so lucky to be surrounded by family and loved ones like Racquel. You are a magnificent momma, Tiff.
I’m so sorry to hear about Racquel’s passing. Thankfully she was able to spend her last moments at home, surrounded by all who cared about and loved her. What a lucky girl to have spent the last year in such a caring and compassionate home. Take care.
I’m sad for you and your flock. But, what a beautiful story of friendship. I’m so glad she could be home and surrounded by friends when she passed. What a lucky little chicken.
I’m so very sorry for your loss. She was a beautiful chicken, and I’m glad she was comforted by friends when she passed – a natural death while warm, safe, and loved.

I am glad that Racquel passed peacefully at home. I am sorry for your loss of this sweet individual. I’m sure she appreciated all of your tender support.
Thank little chicken for a life well led.
Im sorry you lost your sweet muppet! You did such a good job taking care of her and she was surrounded by loved ones.
Tiff and Flapper and all, I am so sorry for your loss of little Racquel. She was a cutie pie.

Yup, definitely tears and lump in throat for sure for this little girl. I saw this on Facebook and got right over to Flap’s website. So sorry for this loss but what a great way to go – in her sleep – her buds next to her. She brought such interesting newness and fun to the backyard. We will all miss her greatly.
So sorry for your loss. I just lost my grandmother Friday morning to congestive heart failure and am dealing with the sadness of losing a loved one too. I hadn’t kept up with the Flapper blog this past week due to my grandmother’s condition and was very sad to read about Racquel. However reading about her has helped me process my own situation. All we can ask for in our final days is to be comfortable and to have someone be by our side. You’ve done a wonderful job of doing that with Racquel and all your furry and feathered friends. Thank you for posting all the happenings at Casa de Flapper, the good and the bad. You’ve created some inner peace in this reader.
Sweet Olivia,
You have had quite a time, first losing Sunny and now Raquel. I am so very sorry and hearing this news simply breaks my heart. Just know that there are other feathered friends in this world that are supporting you. And when it’s your time to go, you will have the honor of Sunny and Raquel at the gates, welcoming you home.

sorry to hear about your loss. how sweet of flapper and olivia to be by her side. *sniff*
So sorry to hear about her passing. Rest in peace fuzzy little muppet. Glad to hear that she was surrounded by loved ones.
Sweet dreams Racquel L’Oreal you fuzzy muppet. XOXO
She certainly was a Personality, whose attitude and pluck were matched only by her outrageous outfit. A chicken who could shut Malley down was worthy of the utmost respect.
Every photo of her made me smile. Thank you for sharing her life with us, Tiff. She was the first muppet chicken I had ever seen, and I definitely won’t forget her.
Rest in peas, little diva. I will miss you, your dramatics, and your fluffy chicken butt.
I am so sorry for your loss.
It is very touching that she passed surrounded by friends. Thank you, Tiff, for taking her in and giving her a good life.
It has taken me a couple of days to process the loss of such a dear, sassy, joke telling chicken. thank you for sharing your fuzzy adventures with us, and Tiff, we are so sorry for your loss. I agree, what a sweet way to pass, surrounded and comforted. Rest in peace Muppet, miss Raquel.
i will miss that feisty fuzzy muppet, and i’m sorry for your loss, Tiff. but i am glad Racquel got to spend her last days loved and under the care of someone like you, who cared so much about her wellbeing and happiness
thank you for sharing that special little personality who loved cheerios & applesauce, surprise karate chops and chicken butt jokes!
I’m so very very sorry for you! I placed a comment on your last post without knowing that this happened. (I hadn’t read this post yet.) This was actually very stupid of me. Please except my apology.
I know how you must have felt. It was good that she wasn’t in pain or in discomfort and that she could spend her remaining time with her feathered friends in with the good care of you. That she may rest in peace. Pipke was also cremated, it’s such a comfort to have her still close by.
A big warm hug from
Fran
