This is one resilient honker. (S)he has persevered though abandonment, foot injuries, and all sorts of poking and prodding by cootie-ridden humans. I'm sorry that the foot cannot be totally healed, but I have a feeling that with the surgery and TLC, (s)he will live a long, happy life.

This can't be easily on you emotionally, Tiff, not to mention the time and money involved. You're an inspiration to all of us who want to help animals but don't know how.

Believe me, I've harangued innocent friends and coworkers on the disastrous effects of dumping domestic animals in parks, until their eyes glaze over in boredom.

Toonie is ill? Poor dear. Molting or not, she is regal and gorgeous.

I wish I could give sweet Goose a great big snorgle. That chest looks so soft and perfect for petting. Wishing everyone good health.

Sorry Petunia has a sinus infection. These cold, damp days seem to encourage that condition. Hope the sweetie is feeling better quickly!

Goose has such a beautiful face. Best wishes for a most successful surgery!

It's very frustrating when folks treat their pets as disposable/discardable!

Ohhh Petunia ... I am so sorry for you. Last month I had a URI too and they flushed my nares. It's no fun is it? :( My nose bleed a little from both sides. I hope it was helpful for you too! ;)

Goosie ... Try not to be scared. Everyone is wishing you the best in the future and Flapper's Mom is the best person to get you all the help you need. I'm going to send good 'honks' your way each day.

Glad to hear that sweet Mr./Ms. Goose will recover from his/her rough start in life, and that he/she is in your very capable hands receiving the proper love and care deserved! I too will never understand what compels people to drop their domesticated pets off at the park...I'd like to think it's sheer ignorance, but I think that's naive to say. I think a lot of it is just plain old laziness and the "me me me" mentality/arrogance/lack of care for other living beings that so many unfortunately seem to possess these days. Sending **good and healing** thoughts goose's way!! : )

Aww what a cute goose. It's so heart warming to read about how you're taking good care of her. Poor foot. Hugs and quacks and "get better soon" to Petunia and O'Malley, too.
I don't get why people do this to animals. I would totally take in the iguana if I lived in the area (what a beautiful and fascinating animal!), but I'll just keep my fingers crossed and hope everyone finds a forever home as cozy and safe as Chez Flapper :)

Goose looks so handsome and friendly. I'm sure Goose did not like the blood draw. Happy that Goose is being taken care of and the infection to be cleaned out soon. We will pray, keep the fingers crossed and think awesome thoughts for the good health for Goose.

Goose weighs over 13 pounds . . . probably lost weight from the abandonment . . . hmmmm, methinks Goose might be a boy :) Ganders are a few pounds heavier than geese, so his healthy weight could be closer to 16 pounds. Ganders are often more affectionate and needy than the geese are, at least in my direct experience. I think it's because they are a less shy, more extroverted than the girls.

Whoever adopts him/her should try and keep him "slim" as opposed to spoiled and fat to slow down the arthritis in that foot. The most vulnerable spot on a goose's body is their legs and feet.
